Moselle Country

A jewel in the middle of Europe

Nature, culture and wine await the holidaymaker.

The Moselle meanders idyllically through its valley encountering homely wine villages and towns along the way.

One still stumbles across characters by the wayside who lend the Moselle country its peculiar charm. Vestiges of its 2000-year-old Roman history can be seen in many towns and villages, with the most famous buildings, such as Porta Nigra and Kaiserthermen, to be found in the chief city on the Moselle, Trier.

Medieval fortresses and castles rise up out of the mountains and work their historic magic on visitors during guided tours and feudal banquets.

Characterised by steep vineyards and woodlands, the varied landscape is an inviting place for nature lovers to walk and cycle. The footpaths are often on ridges with superb views opening up into the valleys, while the well-signposted cycle paths meander through the countryside following the course of the rivers, thus proving an ideal terrain for everyone.

There is no shortage of cosy wine bars or inns offering the opportunity to stop for a nice glass of wine or to sample the local cuisine.
