The Valley
Peace, peace, PEACE at last. Dive into the world of the Baybach Valley and discover yourself.
Follow the path of the stream where the sides of the cliffs grow from the valley bed as high as a church tower. Walk past flat river banks and steep slopes. Old caves are relics of a time when the shale in Hunsrück, which is renowned beyond the borders of the region, began to be exploited.
Take time for a picnic and cool your feet in the stream.
No one will disturb you – even your mobile phone can have some peace.

Attractions
The ruins of Burg Waldeck are situated high above the valley. Wilhelm I, Knight of Heizenberg, built the castle in the year 1150 and thereby founded the noble family "Boose von Waldeck" which became well established in later years.
Mills, mills and more mills; there used to be 26 mills including corn, oil, saw and wool mills. Many of them are still well maintained and others are just ruins. They are proof of the former economic power of the valley. A book on this subject is available in our shop.
